Eye protection is essential in neonatal phototherapy for jaundice. However, existing eye protection modalities invariably end up with forced eye closure. Forced eye closure causes much irritation to the neonate, and is also a known cause of certain health problems.

An Indo-American neonatologist has now conceptualised an eye-opening solution to the problem! Giggles Neonatal Phototherapy Goggles provides for a ‘bubble’ to ensure eye-opening for the baby. EYE SAFETY

Facility to open the eyes; safe shield from blue-light

‘Eye opening space’ is a unique and most important design feature of Giggles. Its bubble design provides comfortable eye opening space over both the eyes. It allows neonates to open their eyes at will. Eye infections caused by forced eye closure are thus eliminated. Giggles is tested for 5 days of blue-light exposure and is certified to shield blue-light. Babies can have a safer and happier phototherapy experience with Giggles.

SKIN SAFETY

Soft & safe material

Giggles is made from soft and safe skin friendly silicone. The material is tested for bio-compatibility (skin friendliness) as per ISO 10993 from government approved facility of international repute. It is certified for skin use. Softness is further enhanced by the peripheral rims that rest around the eyes and on the forehead.

SAFE FIT

Size adjustment & adaptability

To ensure a good fit, Giggles has a facility for size adjustment. The headband has multiple slits and can therefore be adjusted to the baby’s head circumference. It is very difficult to displace. Displacement can cause accidental blue-light exposure, and at times nasal blockage, which may, in rare situations, lead to apnea.

SAFE REUSE

Hygienic reuse on same baby

Giggles can be washed frequently with soap and water. It can be reused multiple times on the same baby. Just one Giggles is sufficient for the entire therapy period of five days. (Five days is generally the maximum period for neonatal phototherapy. Giggles is certified for five days of protection from blue-light.)
